RCIA - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which interested persons become members of the Catholic Church. Ever thought about becoming Catholic? Are you curious about what Catholics believe? Why is the Pope so important to a Catholic? What is Mass all about?
If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions you may be interested in joining your peers in the process of RCIA. The RCIA is designed for adults wishing to know more about the Catholic faith and possibly joining the Catholic Church. It is the team effort of the pastor, catechists (teachers), and members of two parishes: Saint Christopher and Saint Martin.
Sponsors - Catholics who wish to become more knowledgeable about the Church and who wish to help others may want to consider being a sponsor in the RCIA process. A sponsor is a practicing Catholic who is willing to serve and be a mentor, friend, and guide to the RCIA candidate. Sponsorship has the reward of helping others in their faith journey while presenting the opportunity to deepen the sponsor’s own faith and knowledge.
Team Members – Catholics who wish to assist in process are always welcome to facilitate topics of interest, share their faith stories, provide hospitality and refreshment, serve as table leaders for small group discussions, and provide a listening ear to the candidates’ stories.
All Members – Those preparing to enter the Catholic faith are not only accompanied by the sponsors, team members, and relatives, but also by the entire community through prayer and worship – “Thus they will show their common faith and the shared joy with which the (candidates) are received into the community” (RCIA).
